Night Falls On November

Submitted by Jamie on Saturday, 7 November 2009No Comment

It wasn’t really cold, but it wasn’t really warm, either. We stood in the parking lot, just staring up at the sky for a few seconds after putting the groceries in the car. The wind picked up. The sky was cloudy. “It looks like it could start snowing any minute now,” I said. As if on cue, small chips of ice started to fall from the sky. We got in the car and started the drive home.

Soon the entire ground was covered with a fine powder white.

It wasn’t a huge blizzard or even a ‘snow storm’. But it was enough so once the groceries were put away, I ventured back out onto the front lawn and danced in the falling flakes. I remember they fell and shattered on my cheeks, my eyes were closed. I was happy. I could watch the snow fall for hours and hours. I’d forgotten how beautiful a simple, calm snow fall could be. How much fun it could be to just dance in the falling snow.
